All pilots are required to get regular flight physicals. There are 3 classes of pilots, each have their own exam requirements.

  • CLASS 1: Airline Transport Pilot

This class is the most restrictive when considering physical and health requirements. The exam is required every 6 months and the applicant must be at least 23 years of age.

This class includes professional pilots but excludes airline transport pilots, flight engineers, flight navigators, and air traffic control tower operators. The exam is required every year and the applicant must be at least 18 years of age.

  • CLASS 3: General Aviation
This class is commonly for the recreational pilot and student pilot. It is the least restrictive when considering physical and health requirements. The exam is required every 5 years up to the age of 40, then every two years. Student pilots must be at least 16 years of age and must be 17 years of age to get licensed.
